Optional AI — Always Your Choice

Fetch & Flow Lore Studio works fully without AI.

If you choose to use AI features, you do so by providing your own API key from a supported provider. This keeps you in control of costs, data, and usage — as well as avoiding subscriptions or hidden limits.

What is an API Key?

An API key is a private access token that allows software to talk to an AI service on your behalf.

Think of it like a personal access card:

  • It belongs to you

  • You control it

  • You can remove or replace it at any time

You are not creating an account with Fetch & Flow — you’re connecting your own AI account if you want to

Why Bring Your Own Key?

We deliberately chose a “bring your own key” model because it:

  • Avoids subscriptions and artificial usage caps

  • Keeps costs transparent and predictable

  • Ensures your creative work isn’t locked into a platform

  • Prevents us from reselling, training on, or storing your content

Fetch & Flow is a tool, not a service that monetises your writing.

What Happens to Your Writing?

  • Your text stays on your machine

  • AI requests are sent only when you explicitly use AI features

  • Fetch & Flow does not store your writing or your API key on external servers

Your writing is never uploaded “in the background”.

Supported AI Providers

Fetch & Flow Lore Studio supports selected third-party AI providers.

Currently supported:

  • OpenAI

More providers may be added over time.

How Much Does It Cost?

AI usage costs are determined entirely by your chosen provider.

Fetch & Flow does not add mark-ups, usage limits, or hidden fees.

You can monitor or restrict spending directly with your AI provider at any time.

How to Get an OpenAI API Key

Fetch & Flow Lore Studio doesn’t include AI access by default.
If you want to use optional AI features, you’ll need to create an API key with OpenAI.

This takes just a few minutes.

Step-by-step

  1. Visit OpenAI’s official dashboard
    👉 https://platform.openai.com/api-keys

  2. Sign in or create an OpenAI account

  3. Click “Create new secret key”

  4. Copy the key and paste it into Fetch & Flow Lore Studio

That’s it — you’re ready to use AI features.

Your API key belongs to you.
You can delete or rotate it at any time from your OpenAI dashboard.

How OpenAI handles your data

When you use AI features in Fetch & Flow, only the text you choose to send is sent directly to OpenAI using your own API key.

OpenAI states that data sent through their API is not used to train or improve their AI models by default..

This means your writing is used only to generate the response you asked for.

OpenAI may temporarily store API data for security and abuse-prevention purposes, in line with their privacy policy.

Important Notes About API Keys

  • Never share your API key publicly

  • Fetch & Flow stores your key locally on your machine

  • You can remove or disable AI features at any time

  • All costs are billed directly by OpenAI, not Fetch & Flow

Your writing stays yours, and AI features only run when you ask them to.
User → Lore Studio → AI Provider
